Why riad drop-offs need a plan
Most of the medina is a maze of narrow derbs (alleys) closed to cars. Vehicles stop at the closest square, gate or road, which can be a few minutes’ walk from the riad door. Many riads send someone to meet guests there, and porters with handcarts are common for luggage.
When you request a quote, give us the exact riad name. We use it to agree the drop-off point and, where possible, coordinate with the riad so someone is waiting for you.
What to send with your request
- Riad name and, if you have it, the address or map pin the riad sent you
- Flight number and scheduled landing time
- Number of passengers and large suitcases
- Anything that affects walking: young children, heavy luggage, reduced mobility
Leaving the medina for your flight
For departures, the pick-up happens at the same accessible point, so plan a few minutes to walk out from the riad (ask the riad to help with bags). Tell us your flight time and we will suggest a pick-up time in the quote.
Questions about this route
Will the driver take me to the riad door?
Only if a vehicle can physically reach it, which is rare inside the medina. The quote states the drop-off point agreed for your riad.
Can someone help with luggage in the alleys?
Often the riad sends a staff member, and porters with carts work near the main access points. Mention heavy luggage in your request so we can plan for it.
